NOVEMBER 9th Closed: working on Holiday Goodies!

NOVEMBER 2nd Closed: - working on Holiday Goodies!

Hi everyone! First of all thank you so much for stopping by and having a peek at my shop Pinks and Needles!
A California transplant originally...I currently live in the beautiful Sonoran Desert located in Tucson, Arizona with my wonderful husband of 4 1/2 years, our Silky Terrier Chester Copperpot and our two old lady cats Tanzy ( aka "Tonzy" ~ she's a chunker) and Priss Cat. I enjoy crafting my days away, baking, thrifting, sewing and making new friends on the internet. I'm a huge movie buff and ribbon hoarder! Some girls love shoes (not that I don't)...but I love gift wrap..what can I say!
I'm the type of gal who has so many interests that's it's hard for me to focus on just one, but I have taken into consideration what I think people will find unique and interesting. So with that said I am showcasing my pin toppers at the top of the list! These are all handmade by me with lots of love and much attention to detail! They make great gifts for anyone who owns a pin cushion and are relatively low in price so you can collect them fast or slow! I am constantly working on new ideas and am always inspired by the many talented people I come across in the crafting arena! My dream is to open a real brick and mortar boutique/gallery someday when we move back to California!
I hope you'll come back and visit my shop often - as I will try and update regularly : )

Come visit me at http://www.pinksandneedles.blogspot.com/

My Process (if anyone is interested):

Step #1: Making the pins! I hand sculpt each pin without the use of a molds. My materials are very simple: polymer clay, my hands, a flat surface, pins and most importantly LOVE!

Step #2: Baking the pins! I usually like to fire up the oven about 2-3 times per week ~ especially since the warmer weather is approaching I prefer to bake in larger batches.

Step #3: Varnishing! This is the part that requires a lot of patience! First I will varnish the pins and let them dry but it's funny sometimes the varnish dries really slow and I have to wait a day or more to apply a second coat. Then wait again. So please note this is usually the part I'm waiting on myself before I can move on to the next step : )

Step #4: Packaging! I know this probably sounds funny but this is my most favorite part of the process because I love pretty packaging and seeing something come together is the most rewarding : )The first step is to design the little card stock each pin is tied to. I use fabric and scrapbook paper a lot for the initial concept as my background design. I also love to use different computer graphic programs like Print Artist and Fireworks to get the job done. Each design has it's own little card and I hand cut each card after I print them out, punch tiny little holes and then tie each pin on to secure it in place. A little piece of tape is applied to cover the tip of the pin so no one gets hurt! I have now started to sign and date the back of each card too : )

(Hopefully we're on) Step #5: Each pin is then put into a small ziplock bag and off to the "presentation" box it goes. Each box will be tied with a coordinating string and a Pinks & Needles hang tag with a seasonal flower.

SHIPPING/PACKAGING/INSURANCE: All US orders items are sent PRIORITY + delivery Confirmation. If you would like additional INSURANCE to guard against loss/damage you may purchase it at a very reasonable rate ~ please convo me for more information. My commitment to high quality service is at the heart of my goals.

*Please bear in mind that International Mail is uninsured which means that you are not able to claim compensation : )

RECYCLED MATERIALS INFO: I take pride in making small steps to help our environment. Because I'm such a recycling freak I want to state that all small orders (6 items or under) are shipped in pink jewelry box which contains 100% recycled boxboard which is the largest component of the box by weight; the total content of recycled paper is approximately 80% including coverings.
Larger orders (7 items or more) are shipped in a pink one piece candy box made in the USA. Made mostly of wood by-products and is processed without any harmful chemicals. These boxes are also printed with soy based inks that are non toxic, plant based and not harmful to people or the environment : )
When you receive a package from me please recycle what you can : )

Customer Order Status (in order received): PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 2-3 WEEKS FOR DOMESTIC DELIVERY & A BIT LONGER FOR INTERNATIONAL due to curing time.

PLEASE NOTE: if your order is more than 6 items it may take longer for your update to appear.

ALCHEMY ORDERS: I am happy to discuss with you any pincushion or pin topper set you may be interested in me making for you! Please convo me for details : )

WEE LITTLE DISCOUNTS: Feel FREE to Mix n Match. Buy 12 get 1 FREE~ please convo me for more details. This is a great way to shop for the Holidays!

EXCLUSIVE DESIGNS: (meaning this design is reserved for you and you only to sell through your shop). There is a minimum purchase of 500 units for all exclusive designs. The process to get started is pretty simple. You let me know what you would like designed, specific colors, size, at this time you can send me fabric swatches to match colors if you wish. etc and then I do a mock up. I will send you a pic and then you can tell me if there needs to be any changes etc. I then rework my idea and show you the revision. Depending upon the size, design, intricacy etc. I determine my price. I try to pass the savings on to you in any way I can when you order an exclusive design - this is definitely the best price option. Long lead times required ~ please convo me for more info.

WHOLESALE: Even though I don't consider myself to be a wholesaler in the traditional sense ~ I can offer discounts on bulk pins : ) Please convo me for more details!

LEAD TIME VARIES: but a good rule of thumb is for every 1-15 pins I need about 2-3 weeks to complete including curing time : )
