TEAM BIO:

We are a husband/wife team, (Jann and Jeff Whidden). We love spending time together and are crazy in love with the earth and keeping things out of the balefills, landfills, and incinerators.

Jeff works full time for 2ReVert, creating unique one-of-a-kind pieces from used, broken skateboards.

Jann works in Administration for an amazing Materials Recovery Facility. The facility processes huge amounts of curbside recyclables everyday. She has worked there since 1996. Recycling is oozing out her heart.

“WHERE HAS YOUR JEWELRY BEEN?”

“2ReVert” jewelry pieces are all unique and no one will ever be identical. When we get a new skateboard to recycle, we are thrilled. Jann is always wondering who rode the skateboard. Was it a 17 year old, just getting into skating... falling off lots, or was it a 24 year old that was an amazing skater. She always wonders were the boards went... did they get carried around school, did they go on trips... what about the writing on them. Fascinating!! Jeff always looks for the coloured layers... where are they in the board, what colours, what will he create!

THE PROCESS:

Skateboards are made of 7 plys of maple wood. Some are made with wonderful layers of coloured wood. “2ReVert” then takes the old used skateboards and designs wonderful pieces of jewelry, playing with the coloured layers of wood and sometimes the graphics on the skateboard. We then seal the piece with a glossy non-toxic finish, ready to wear everywhere.

ECO-FRIENDLY COMMITMENT:

“2ReVert” is very conscious of the environment. We are very grateful that we our located in a province in Canada that is committed to recycling and reducing the waste in our balefills (aka: landfill, dump, etc.). We use as much of the broken, old, worn out skateboard decks as we can, then we take all scraps to the local Waste Management Park for further reuse.
