Bio

Josie Adele founded Fluidance in 2004 while living in the culturally and artistically rich city of San Francisco, CA. She has been singled out by SF Weekly as one of San Francisco’s “Masterminds,” influencing the diversity of art and fashion in a city where thousands of artists compete to stand out from the rest. Josie has also received accolades from GenArt, the country’s leading arts and entertainment organization dedicated to showcasing emerging, forward-thinking fashion designers, when it selected Fluidance for its Inspiration Fashion Show of 2005. Most recently, Josie showed at SF Fashion week with fashion designer Evarize and is currently collaborating with Little Red Sparrow in multi-faceted fashion performances in San Francisco.

In addition to industry awards, her one-of-a-kind designs have won over dozens of fashion-savvy boutiques and private clients who, like Josie, strive to celebrate freedom and self-expression through accessories that reflect who we are as individuals.

Prior to Fluidance, Josie founded LiveWire, a Denver, CO-based jewelry design company inspired by her fascination with hardware, aluminum and tubing. Josie used those mediums to create stylish headdresses and other accessories, which were shown at local fashion shows and sold at local boutiques.

Josie began her early career in interior design. She earned a degree in interior design at Colorado State and studied illustration and the history of fashion design in London. After completing her coursework, Josie landed a position for Steelcase in workspace planning. She honed her eye for detail and used the principle elements of design – balance, harmony, line and color -- to make people feel inspired and comfortable in their workspace.

She currently lives in San Francisco and seeks inspiration from the natural beauty of the city and its people, which are easy to see from her rooftop studio. When she’s not designing jewelry, Josie finds fulfillment in yoga, the outdoors, dancing and spending time with friends and family.
