DamageNoted's Profile

Bio

When a library book is in less-than-perfect condition, it is stamped "DAMAGE NOTED." Imperfections are acknowledged, and it is sent on its way. But there comes a time when an item has served its purpose: it is withdrawn from circulation, and eventually mashed to a pulp. But not always . . .

Working forty hours a week at the public library doesn't leave much time for crafting, but it is a goldmine of inspiration and material. I rescue everything I possibly can from the recycling bin, anything I'm able turn into something useful or simply nice to look at. One person's trash is most definitely my treasure; I acquire castoffs, orphans, and bits of this & that almost every day. I also purchase material on eBay, mostly vintage cookbooks and magazines.

While my retro/vintage preoccupation has been a lifetime in the making, mixing it with my crafting skills is a fairly recent development. Damage Noted is where the two intersect, where a pack-rat design junkie such as myself can share her obsession with the world, one charming, cherished object at a time.

Most of my creations are one of a kind; I do not reproduce images, so when you see multiple versions of an item, it is because I have more than one book, advertisement, etc. to work with.

Please pardon the amateur photography and scanning, I assure you everything is much better-looking in person.

I also have a blog: http://damagenoted.wordpress.com/.
