Bio

I paint, most often, metaphors, memories, and small pieces of stories.
Lately, when I paint, I am working to invoke a
sentiment, an atmosphere or a way to wholly honor the beauty and mystery in the world around me that I find so profoundly inspiring. I find myself being swept up very quickly into a dimension of my imagination that has not been so exercised since I was a small child.
I am also very motivated by the desire to experiment with color
tension, compositional tension, an unfamiliar (to me) simplified sense of design, and intuitive relationships between, seemingly unrelated subjects.
      Anything could fall into my subject matter but most recently I have
been intrigued by animals, sailing ships and words.
      In addition to painting I also write. Over the years my writing
has left the page and reached out to the canvas. I write on my paintings,
under my paintings and on the backs of them too.
As I work, stories, memories, and songs move through my mind.
       I hope that my work is weighted with mystery or lovliness.


I grew up in Indianapolis, Indiana. I live in Portland, Oregon. I miss my family and I love my new home, what's a girl to do?
I just turned 31 and am really realizing what is meant by "age is just a number".
I am the first woman in my family to graduate from college.
When I'm not painting I read, ride my bike in the sunshine, go dancing with my friends and seek out tiny adventures wherever I can.
I miss the thunderstorms of the midwest but the brillant, billowing clouds of the Great Northwest in Spring and Autumn almost make up for it.
I have been painting full time for almost a year now.
I hate cooking but love to eat.
I havn't watched a lick of tv in 2 years but I keep up with Lost online. Don't ask me why I bother, that show always breaks my heart and makes me cry. o well.
Also, I just recently fell out of love with my celebrity gossip hobby. Thank God that's over!
