Bio
I always read bios to try to get to know the artist.. So here's a super long one. My name is Laurin, I'm originally from outside of Atlanta, but now I live in North Carolina with my very active husband and our equally active (but very sweet)husky, Ginger. I work full time, and any other time I have is consumed by crafty projects of all varieties. You name it, I've spent a load of money on trying it once or at least planned to. I've been a crafter for as long as I can remember, always obsessed with bright colors and textures. I would describe my style as eclectic.. That is, I could never settle for a style, so I melded them all together to make for a somewhat junkyard-meets-boutique sort of look. I'm extremely fickle, and will often abandon a craft after a short amount of time. (Bye bye crocheting, felting, gardening, painting...I'm sure there's more.) If I see something I just absolutely LOVE, I try my best to make it.. (hence the new sewing machine) which often leads to the afore mentioned abandonment, along with about two months worth of my "play" cash (once again, sewing machine). I can certainly accredit my family with my love for crafting and learning new things. My dad builds all sorts of things, and I would be willing to bet he can fix anything known to man. He taught me how to be independent and try to do things myself. He had a phrase (amongst other phrases I won't mention.) "Look it up!" I believe it came from a play my brother was in... So anyway, even if he knew the answer to something, (we'll never know if he did or not, he was also a good bluffer) we would be forced to find out for ourselves... which sparked such a love of discovery in me and has brought me to the place in my life I am now. "Dad, what does this word mean?" "Dad, how do you get this thing off?" "Dad, what does the 'CHECK ENGINE LIGHT'mean?" "Dad, why is my car making that funny noise? And what's that smell??" Thanks Dad :). My mom has always oogled and made such a fuss over my dinky little crafts. She always preferred handmade cards over store bought. Boy did I deliver... Sometimes a little too much. She always had neat jewelry, a lot of it handmade from my uber crafty sister(also a large inspiration). I was always "borrowing" her jewelry. Sorry Mom :). She was the first one to inspire me to sell my jewelry. She would wear my creations to work and show them off to everyone, then come home and tell me how many people just thought they were great. Of course, I puffed out my chest and went into overdrive. My brother is also very creative. He's an awesome musician and maybe an even "more awesomer" (that's right, I totally went there) cook. Both my grandmothers were big sewers, and I often call one of them with a sewing maching frustration. My Papaw made wood crafts.. And so on and so forth. We just love to make stuff. :) ANyway, enough about me.. Check out the legal jargon in my "SHOP POLICIES" section.
