Bio

Danyka lives in Canberra, Australia. She is currently studying Design, majoring in Gold & Silversmithing.

Danyka has had previous experience in the graphic design, textile, fashion and jewellery industries. She has been making things for as long as she can remember, and regularly engages in stitching, metalsmithing, photography, bookbinding, drawing, digital object design and giving (the latter, in combination with any of the former, is a particular favourite of hers).

Danyka loves making things from other things - including pre-loved, pre-lived and found objects. She likes to use materials in unexpected and unconventional ways. Danyka likes the idea that the history and life of an object can be translated between owner-and-maker-and-owner. As such, 'value' becomes a concept unique to the owner, the maker and the audience (and less like the concept the world economy would have us believe...)

Danyka is a self-diagnosed compulsive maker, and is using her Etsy store to fund a university exchange trip to Germany in 2009.
