Bio

Hi all, my name is Robert James Murphy, I am ceramic artist and I love to play in the clay. I am the owner of RJM Ceramic Designs and I create all my own designs.

I have lived in Orange County for 46 years give or take. I have had my dog Bailey who is my muse for the past 2 1/2 years he is a black Labradoodle.

My art background started when I was very young, for as long as I can remember I have always been doing something creative, drawing, playing in the mud, finger paintings. My first experience with clay was at the age of 6 i have a hand print that I made at Glen Matin.

I took my first ceramic class in high school and was inspired by my teacher Athena Lewis who thought me to think out of the box.

I consider myself, a self-taught artist and I just keep working it till I get it right.

Before I was a buyer I worked many different jobs. The longest at Robert Mondavi Wine and Food Center in Costa Mesa for 12 years. I designed flowers, managed a theater, worked for several law firms.

I was always trying to figure out what I wanted to be and do when I grew up. Now, I know what that is - CREATE BEAUTIFUL ART!

I am inspired by beautiful gardens and things in nature. I also enjoy landscaping, painting faux finishes, and drawing.
