Bio

My name is Mary Hughes. I'm a self taught oil painter who is strongly drawn to painting realistic still life, birds, dogs and cats close up. I've been inspired by other realism painters for years and I strive to one day paint images that will inspire others. I work to uncover the soul of an animal and what makes real look real in a still life. Most of my work is on canvas, though I enjoy painting aceo's too. The aceo's allow me to have some fun and put some humor into my art once in awhile that wouldn't work on canvas.
