Bio
For the past 24 years I have been working with young adults at all levels through art education. My specialty is centered around the visual arts and focuses on three dimensional art. I am able to use this medium to successfully reach all of my students. Presently I work with both special education , and mainstream students. All of my classes are with students working at different levels of ability. Each student is encouraged to find a project that interests them, then provide the environment to explore and learn first by example and demonstration, and then through other student helpers who are willing to help explain their projects. As new students come into the classroom I work one on one to explain the art room procedures. Design requirements are met, drawings are produced and activities begin. Each pupil is encouraged to work at his or her own ability level. Rubrics are set up for evaluation and progress is measured by individual accomplishment. As each finds their medium they are also watching others find their way. I have worked with many ages of young adults; learning- disabled, advanced placement, wheelchair bound, blind, deaf and speechless, as well as the regular spectrum of students in a high school classroom. I work closely with the guidance department integrating both at risk and high achievement students into the activities. My classroom can absorb both sucess and triumph, as well as trial and error, as one can fail and succed at the same time. It is the combination of small victories that build the work of art called a lifetime.
