Bio

Hello - my name is Keriann Mary, hence the Mary in Sweet Mary. The Sweet is because of my love of all sweet things, from cakes to sweet smelling lavender! I grew up in New Zealand, in a very creative household and that creative influence was mainly from my mum who taught me to sew. She tells me that I stood up at her treadle machine at age five and made my own dolly clothes and I have certainly enjoyed making things all my life. Besides making all the curtains, covering the furniture and sewing alot of our clothes, my mum picked up a paintbrush in her fifties and painted the most amazing pictures. My favourites are the flowery ones dotted around my home - what an inspiration she is. So, though I don't paint, I do love to make treasures out of my "flowery fabric" collection - some of them truly vintage and some new but vintage looking and all of them collected in New Zealand and while I lived for over ten years in the United Kingdom.
I now live in a rambling, sort of shabby home on a rural property in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand. Its the best place in the world as far as I am concerned but then, I am biased.
I am happily married with two beloved children, now at university. We also have two cats - one old and a bit grumpy, one young and named the "spoilt brat" by my envious children.
