OokpikPress's Profile
Bio
I am a printmaker living in the wine country of Temecula, CA (Southern California).
Printmaking has been my absolute favorite medium for a long time and I only recently began making prints but immediately dove right in and even bought an etching press (K-B). I am experimenting with every form of printmaking except lithography (so far)!
I am in love with contemporary Japanese woodblock printmaking and mysterious, depth filled aquatints.
I am currently one of the founders of a start-up co-op print studio and club at the Riverside Museum of Art and have taught a few one-on-one classes at my home studio. I am also studying printmaking at Palomar College (San Marcos) under the tutelage of Christina Li.
I plan to make prints until the day I die!
Some of my accomplisments so far are:
- being an exhibitor at The Sawdust Festival in Laguna Beach for 7 years
- being in numerous zine shows at museums
- being invited by Michelle Shocked to be in her Women's Day Show onstage in LA along with life size cut outs of my Lefties
- being on HGTV demonstrating silk painting
- having my art licenced by The Fairy Society (http://www.TheFairySociety.com)
- being a paid staff cartoonist at Kiss Machine
- having my art and poetry published by We'Moon Journal and Datebook
- started the Writer's Cafe and an Artist's Salon in my town
- surviving as a full time artist for the past 15 years along with many thanks to all my devoted customers, fans, family and friends!!!!
