ItzThePitz's Profile
Bio
By day I'm a mild mannered senior systems administrator at a community-based bank in Boise. By night and on weekends I'm a small business owner who makes therapeutic body wraps using cotton fabric and cherry pits. I also make cooling scarves for those long hot summers.
All ItzThePitz items are made in my home in the mountains north of Boise where I live with my husband, two dogs, one cat and an array of wildlife and beautiful birds. My life in the mountains is a peaceful one. The perfect environment to make items meant to soothe, relax and refresh others.

ItzThePitz wraps have been well-received by local customers and now it's time to share them with everyone else.
Although my wraps have been recommended and are in use by physical therapists, chiropractors and massage therapists, they are intended to provide temporary relief and are not a substitute for medical care.
The items I have listed on Etsy for sale are just a sampling of what I have available. I also have several on my off-Etsy web site (itzthepitz.com/store). If you don't see anything you like, let's discuss as I'm wide open to customizing wraps to suit the needs of my customers.
COOLING SCARVES
------
In July 2008 I added cooling scarves to my Etsy store in some very fun and cool looking fabric. Below is information regarding use, care, storage and laundering cooling scarves. I've also tossed some usage tips below too.
Use
------
► Soak in water for 20-30 minutes or until the crystals in the casing turn to gel.
► As the crystals soak up the water distribute the gel along the casing with your fingers to insure even distribution.
► Lay the scarf on a hand towel to absorb any dripping water. Do not squeeze the gel casing. Squeezing could cause the gel to ooze through the fabric.
► Tie scarf loosely around your neck.
► To keep the casing cool while wearing, roll it to redistribute the gel or dip it in cold water for a few minutes.
Care & Storage
------
► Store wet scarves in an open plastic or supplied zip top bag, hang them to dry, or store them in the refrigerator.
► After several days of drying, the crystals will return to their original solid form.
► Place thoroughly dry cooling scarf in a sealed zip top storage bag for long-term storage.
Laundering
------
► Using a few drops of liquid detergent, hand-wash crystal-filled scarves.
► Rinse well and hang to dry.
► Do NOT machine-wash or dry.
Tips
------
► Soaking the scarf in warm water speeds the hydration process.
► Some fabrics will bleed a bit of color the first few soakings.
► Cooling scarf can be soaked in cold water and used over and over.
► Cooling scarf can also be used as a headband.
► The cooling scarf can be refrigerated so it is more refreshing on a hot day.
► Refrigerate extra cooling scarves for breezeless humid days. When one scarf reaches body temperature, swap it for a cool one. Many people carry them in zip top storage bags in a cooler. Especially helpful for those who work or recreate in the sun.
► Cooling scarves are very helpful for women who suffer hot flashes.
► Some users put a tablespoon of alcohol into the soak water to remove impurities between cleaning.
Namaste...have a beautiful day!!
