Bio

Art’s Desire is the happy home for my fused glass jewelry! I started working with glass more than ten years ago as an art student at Centre College in Danville, KY. There I focused on figurative work and medium scale cast glass; however, glass fusing has allowed me a greater sense of satisfaction in glass work than I ever experienced before. The process is a fairly simple one which involves cutting the glass and preparing it for the firing, firing it in a kiln to about 1500 degrees, and cooling the glass slowly to anneal (or strengthen) the glass properly. Once the glass cools, the piece can be coldworked (ground, cut, etc.) and then fired once more to polish up any marks left behind. The glass can then be put to multiple uses as jewelry, functional art (coasters, plates, etc.), or standalone works of art.

My inspiration can come from anywhere – and it often does - nature, other artists, even food can all get me started. Sometimes even a ‘happy accident’ will spur me in a new direction. I plan to constantly update the shop with new categories that represent these inspirations.

Caring for these pieces is easy! The glass itself can be cleaned with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cloths as they may scratch the surface over time. All silver or gold components should be cleaned using a jewelry polishing cloth.
