I am a 50 yr old Mom and Grandmother. I have been making jewelry since the early 1990's when my daughter was in high school, and have never met a bead I didn't like!

Actually, given time to think about it, I have been making jewelry for much longer than that! Anyone old enough to remember when telephones used that nifty plastic coated wire with all the pretty stripes on it? My Grandfather used to get the scrap pieces, and we made neato spiral rings from it...and then we braided bracelets etc... and of course like any good Girl Scout, I made name pins from pieces of bark and alphabet noodles, the years that my family lived on the beach were spent looking for shells with holes worn through from the surf, so they could be strung onto gimp...oh yeah... GIMP! I made lanyards and bracelets and keychains and... well I guess you get the idea! LOL I have been making adornments of one sort or another for a very long time!

My current jewelry making stint began when my daughter was in high school. She was endlessly 'needing' a new fancy necklace for proms, dances, dates... she 'needed' the funky faddy things everyone had... she needed needed needed! LOL So if I wanted to be able to feed the rest of the family I had to start making the jewelry

One thing led to another, and I discovered ebay for supplies and Hoo Boy! I was hooked! For the past 15 years my life has been marked by the jewelry I have made for events in my family's life. Pearls for the weddings, birthstones for milestone birthdays, a huge blue glass pendant for my daughter's Prom, in the wake of the movie Titanic. I have watched silver prices more than triple.

There have been spells of several months where life interrupted my ability to produce new jewelry and my family tells me they would rather live with 10 smokers quitting cold turkey. Making jewelry is not what I do. It is who I am and how I survive!
