Bio

I create jewelry, simply because I love to. My choice of beads and materials are a happy accident. Sometimes I’ll come up with quick designs, and some days a piece needs coaxing and is born out of trial and error. Being that my jewelry designs are all one-of-a-kind, I continually am on the search for variety in theme, shape, opacity, color and texture. I prefer to use quality glass and crystal beads, but every now and then I’ll mix it up and use the wondrous elements from nature such as coral, bone, or wood.

I find that my current work is spontaneous. I create from a mood. Silly and vibrant work may explode out of a happy space, whereas deep hues of purple and browns may emanate from a space of calm and wakeful meditation. Having a love of all colors allows for limitless design possibilities, however some colors carry a definite connection to natural elements. My connection to the ocean has inspired many of my aquamarine creations; my red pieces come from my fascination with fire, sunshine leads to my taste for orange.

When my work is going well, I’m in a conscious state of bliss. Time seems to cease, designs come easily and I can work for hours at a time. I have found making jewelry to be addictive, exhilarating, challenging and absurd. I learn daily lessons by continually approaching life and Art without fear, bushels of curiosity and lots of laughter and play. Yes, adults can play too! Just think what a nicer world it would be if more adults
re-introduced play into their lives.

I am learning that to love life one simply has to learn to "just be". Be blessed, be kind, be creative and be honest in order to live one's life with good intentions and integrity. Making jewelry fits in well with those ideals. Although designing jewelry is somewhat of an obsession, I find it brings more passion, serenity and purpose to my life.
