i so enjoy doing embroidery. love combining colors and seeing a project come to life. a few things are especially inspirational to me... i've got an old laundry bag that was embroidered by my grandma years ago - exquisite lettering ("laundry") and flowers. and i use an old vintage tea towel that is stained and has a big hole... but the sweet bell pepper design stitched in tentative stem stitches and french knots makes it beautiful to me. i love the idea of infusing drudgery (laundry and dish drying) with something so pretty. and i do hope that years from now, things that i've embroidered will be stained and worn, but still bringing joy because of the charm of simple hand stitching.
