Bio
Laura Humenik works wonders with wire, beads, lampworked, dichroic and fused glass and Precious Metal Clay.
Her work has been featured in the recently released book “Adapting Quilt Patterns To Polymer Clay” by Judith Skinner and Sarajane Helm and advertising, and also in Belle Armoire Magazine.
Her distinctinctive flair for putting just the right pieces together makes each piece a unique work of wearable art.
Laura’s handmade wire findings fit right in with todays’ current craze for copper, and she also uses sterling silver and 14K gold with flair.
Semiprecious and precious stones are often combined with handcrafted metals, Swarovski crystals, cubic zirconia and whatever catches her fancy!
Her previous experience as a crafty housewife and mother with time spent as a faux finish painter, seamstress and quilter had already developed her eye for color, texture, and placement. Now Laura’s abilities have exploded into the new realm of beadwork, and she’s learned to seek out the local bead store wherever she goes—there are always goodies and components to be found.
When she can’t find just the right piece, she creates it herself! Laura knows to keep her eyes ready to spot beads and findings everywhere, and combines elements to create beautiful and unique wearable art jewelry.
