TheRedForest's Profile

Bio

The Shop: The Red Forest is a showcase of musings on our often ironic relationship to nature. Each featured product is specially hand crafted to make a statement about the environment, be it bold and loud or of a subtler voice. All the shop’s pieces are created with nature in mind, using recycled, reused or reclaimed materials whenever possible, and in a smoke and pet-free home. The quality of the shop’s wares is ensured by the artist’s rigorous formal training and experience in a multitude of media and reflects many years of research on environmental issues and activism. With your purchase and displaying of The Red Forest’s products, you too become the activist can help voice these important issues!

The Red Forest is a proud member of Cruelty Free Etsy! Check out the team's blog :http://crueltyfreeetsy.blogspot.com and creations here : http://flickr.com/groups/crueltyfreeetsy/

The shop's Montreal-based visual artist holds a fresh BFA in interdisciplinary arts from Concordia University. She is trained and practices in a wide array of media including painting, drawing, performance, textiles, video, animation and interactivity. Her works focus on themes including environmental issues, storytelling as activism and the horror genre, and are exposed frequently in Canada. She is also co-founder and Editor of Les Fleurs du Mal art magazine and Communications Director for artist-run centre Studio XX.

To refresh my mind and spirits during my ‘breaks’ from my art, I focus on bringing new creatures, purses and jewellery to life for you with The Red Forest. Each unique piece reflects my artistic research, but in a more playful, hopeful, and as often as possible, wearable way!

I’d love to hear from you! Please send me your comments, questions, special requests and hellos through my etsy contact.

Thank you for stopping by The Red Forest! Til next time :)
