DIRTY ANKLE POTTERY

I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in the late 50’s. My love of nature, animals and the slower pace of country life lead me to a small farm in the Foothills of North Carolina in 1992.
My interest in archeology opened up the area of pottery. So much of our human past, our interactions within communities, our art and decorations, our desire to travel and expand, our progression has been learned by the discoveries of pottery.

The numerous elements our earth provides us can be crafted into items that can be functional, hold special meaning, be forms of beauty, and connect us with our past and each other.

Along with crafting functional pieces that can be used in our everyday life with the flavors of the past, items of great beauty to calm the soul can also be crafted from the various clays available. Sometimes the old ways can bring us back in touch with Mother Earth and back in touch with ourselves. In creating a piece of pottery, I put some of myself and the joy I feel while working with the clay in every piece, making it special and unique.

I live on my farm with my 28 cats, 3 dogs, 2 goats, a parrot and turtle in the foothills of Western North Carolina and any thing else that wonders up hungry.
