Abacus's Profile

Bio

I started making jewelry over 15 years ago as a way of retaining my sanity while working as a textbook librarian for the public school system. Now that I'm retired, my inspiration comes from my travels, (museums, galleries and craft fairs all over the country) and my materials (beads of stone, metal, glass, wood, and clay). It's almost impossible for me to resist acquiring a bead (or 2...or 10) that I've never seen before and that has resulted in a burgeoning collection that threatens to burst the seams of my spare room/studio.
I am proud of my quality materials and endeavor to do them justice with careful attention to detail and technique.

The most fun for me is finding new and interesting ways to answer this very simple question: Which Beads Go Together? The answer to that question can be much more complicated than it sounds and I've been known to completely re-string pieces many times in order to come up with a solution that makes me happy.

I hope you find something here that makes you happy, too. Feel free to contact me for more info, questions, or special requests.

Please heart any items you especially like and check out my daughter's shop: cascade.etsy.com!
