Bio

I graduated with my diploma of Visual Arts (ceramics) in 2000. Since then I have worked in contrasting mediums of clay and silk, to create bright and quirky and organic and earthy pieces.
I grew up in a creative household and was introduced to all things art and craft by my mother. I was taught basic craft skills while being surrounded by art and music in the house.
My work is inspired by the Australian bush and coastlines. I try to capture the colours and textures that nature does so well. The female form with all its curves and shape also influences my work.
I find creating a very calming process.
I'm attracted to silk painting by the fluidity of colour The colours blend into one another beautifully. Clay on the other hand is solid with earthy textures; it lends itself to so much.
I believe it's important to have a creative outlet. If you don't take yourself too seriously, just enjoy the process and product.
My range of hand painted silk scarves and ceramic bottles, jewellery and buttons has been sold through craft markets, galleries, gift stores and online. My latest work is currently on display at In.cube8r Gallery in Fitzroy and madeit.com.au
