Bio

Shelly lives in Maryland with her architect husband, two sons, their white cat Twinkle and their very noisy lovebird, Sunset.

She's collected rocks and colors since she was little and has been making things with them ever since along with epic messes, much to her family's dismay. They are fortunate right now to have the mess contained in one small room. It is her favorite place.

Colors come in the form of beads mostly. She has lots of vintage and lucite beads with stripes and dots on cubes and cylinders. Yummy! But colors also come in the form of clay, paint, ink, buttons, ribbons and yarns among other things. She finds ways to play with the different forms of color along with patterns, textures and scale and it's so much fun! See end result of this play on etsy pages.

The rocks represent an opposite but equal collection and provide a balance to her Libra self. Simple and singular, each one offers a unique opportunity. Currently in 2009, the merging of the color and the rocks is in process and she is very unclear about where this will all go (or even if...). However, if the economy does not improve, it may be a long time before she finds out, because a real job just might be in her future.

Basically self taught through play, she continues to learn new skills by reading and taking classes whenever time allows and the rest of the time she probably reinvents the wheel hoping she'll come up with something unique that no one else has thought of before. Oh the conceit!

But in the end, she feels incredibly fortunate that her family, friends and fruitful play fill her to the brim with great joy and fulfillment, which only leaves the everyday organizational tasks of life to vex her...
