Bio

Brian Usher received his BFA degree in Printmaking from California State University, Long Beach in 2006. He has also studied drawing and painting at the Academy of Art College in 2002. He taught screenprinting courses at Angels Gate Cultural Center in San Pedro and was also assistant teacher to CSULB printmaking head Roxanne Sexaur. He has shown in both group and solo exhibitions in the Los Angeles area.

He works primarily with relief printmaking using both woodblocks and linoleum, and often combines the technique with screenprinting. His work commonly explores the sacred versus the profane, focusing on duality and spirituality in often macabre and unsettling images.
