ARTIST STATEMENT

I remember as a kid I always liked things that scared me. Things that could eat people like huge radiation exposed monsters, creepy slime filled aliens, killer robots with a thirst for the ladies, giant insects and brain dead zombies!

Creatures that tower over us...Godzilla, King Kong and that big lady that got pissed off in Attack of the 50 foot woman. All of these things and a steady stream of comic books and Saturday morning cartoons influenced me quite early on.

The 3D glasses Pulp Fiction inspired prints that are presented on this site are an homage to my childhood...a time when these things were real for me. When colors seemed more vibrant and illustrations seemed like they were ALIVE and ready to jump off the page.

I hope they scare you.

Dean Velez is an award winning motion graphics designer with over a decades worth of experience in the broadcast industry.

His background includes working with over 50 different Television Stations, Post Houses and Educational Institutions as either an Art Director, Animator, Designer or Instructor.
