Bio

These illustrations are produced digitally on my little macbook but they all start with a piece of paper, a pencil and paint. I sketch ideas in my favourite sketchbooks from Lovely Designs (the reused papers help to overcome that "blank page fear"). Inspiration comes from everywhere, snippets of overheard conversations, vintage advertising, my friend Sarah's collection of beautiful objects, vintage children's book illustrations but mostly from a nostalgic ideal of childhood.

I graduated with a BA(hons) degree in Fine Art from Falmouth School of Art and now lecture in Art & Design in Jersey. All of my work is rooted in drawing, I post pages from my sketchbooks with my own drawings and pages from my scrapbooks with other artists work that inspires my practice on Flickr http://flickr.com/photos/joannalittlebird/

I live in the Channel Islands, UK. In a little 1930's bungalow right next to the sea. I work in a sketchbook and on a macbook because my house is too small (or too full) for a studio.
