Bio

My name is Jen Kott, and I'm a RAKU artist in Transylvania County, North Carolina! I spend most of my spare time in my pottery studio making fun and funky, one-of-a-kind RAKU pendants, buttons and wearable art!

Each piece is unique and handmade by me! I mix the copper glazes by hand and carve the original designs. Each piece is heated to 2000 degrees F and buried in a sand pit that has been lined with things that burn. The unpredictable colors come from the movement of the flames dancing in the fire. The piece is then plunged into icy cold water which archives the color patterns. Each piece is then cleaned, inspected, signed and sealed for a lifetime of enjoyment.

I am not a jewelry designer by trade, so if my pendants inspire you to create a gorgeous necklace to sell in your Etsy Store than go for it!!! I love to see what you guys come up with!
