Hello, I'm Catherine Vesalga Thomas. I live in Apex, NC and am originally from Sanford, NC. I am a part time dental hygienist and most recently, have added being a part time seamstress. I am happily married with 2 beautiful girls. I have always liked to create things. My sewing derived from watching my Mother, a wonderful seamstress, create and alter clothing and home decor throughout my childhood.
This journey of Diddly Dot Boutique began in January 2008 when I decided to go after Christmas shopping at a local children's boutique looking for marked down dresses for my girls who are six years apart in age. I was able to find plenty for my two year old, but nothing for my eight year old due to the boutique not having anything over size 6x. So, I bought the little one something and decided I'd come home and look online for matching fabric and would make her something (which I had never done before)! I could sew right!?...after all, I had made all of my window treatments five years prior after building our home. So, I found the fabric...and made the matching outfit, and have been making hundreds since...selling them at local craft fairs, out of my home and local businesses, and at home parties.
God has blessed me with many abilities in my life...the ability to marry the love of my life and my highschool sweetheart, Craig...the ability to be raising two strong and couragious daughters...and the ability to BETTER things. A friend once pointed out that all of the many things I do are related to each other because I do BETTER things one has. From my gardening...to housecleaning and organizing...to the constant home decorating...to dressing-up my girls...to painting and sewing...and yes, even to cleaning teeth. That's how I choose to think of all the craziness I do in my spare time...BETTERING what I already have.
