What do you get when you take one obsessive anthropologist, add a fixation with writing and data storage, put in a dash of creativity, shake thoroughly, and finish with a twist of lime?

Candlemark & Gleam!

My day job, plus my life as a grad student, can be pretty stressful. I unwind by gluing things to other things, or sometimes by lacquering things to other things. Or stabbing myself repeatedly with needles (I have calluses of steel!). Regardless, working with my hands gives me a wonderful creative outlet and helps me relax.

As an anthropologist and archaeologist, I'm obsessed with writing and the idea of storing ideas in a way that can be retrieved by people leagues away and centuries removed. Books, scrolls, and all sorts of other ancient methods of recording ideas are my lifeblood. Candlemark & Gleam gives me a way to interpret my passion in ways that make sense today.

I also design jewelry and rework vintage clothing and accessories. No thrift store or estate sale find is safe from my attentions!

No matter what I'm making, I'm pleased to be able to bring my work to you here on Etsy.

While I do produce some ongoing series and lines, most Candlemark & Gleam items are one-of-a-kind or very limited editions (there's only so much fabric and paper in my stash and no way to get more, as much of it is vintage). One-of-a-kind pieces will always be noted, so you'll know you're getting the only one ever produced! Still, if you see something you love that's gone now or have an idea you've always wanted to see made, let me know! I'd be happy to create something just for you.

PAYMENT
I accept PayPal, postal money orders, and personal checks. Money orders and checks must clear my bank before your order will ship.

Payment must be received within 7 days of purchase.

All prices are listed in U.S. dollars. International buyers are very welcome! Please make payment in U.S. dollars; other currency will not be accepted.

SHIPPING
Most items ship within 5 business days of payment/payment clearing.

I ship all items United States Postal Service, first class with delivery confirmation. International orders will go out via regular Airmail (Canada) or Global Priority (everywhere else).

Canadians and Mexicans - shipping is probably less for you than for other international buyers. Drop me a line and I'll send you an updated invoice reflecting the appropriate shipping price.

I DO combine shipping; contact me with the items you are purchasing and I'll send you an updated invoice.

If you would like to choose a different shipping method, please contact me for an updated invoice.

PROMOTIONS
If you have a promotion code, please enter it in Note To Seller when making your purchase. DO NOT PAY IMMEDIATELY. You will receive an updated invoice with the promotional price.

RETURNS AND EXCHANGES
All Candlemark & Gleam items are individually handcrafted. As a result, some small variations and imperfections may occur; this is just part of the charm of a quality handcrafted item.

To ensure your satisfaction, I do have a limited return/exchange policy. Do not mail items back without a Return Authorisation! Please contact me within 5 days if you are at all unsatisfied with your product and I will do my best to work with you.

All shipping fees for returns and exchanges are the responsibility of the buyer.
