Bio

Miss Charm School handbags are designed and handcrafted in Redding and Ridgefield, CT.

The purses are made of fine upholstery and vintage fabrics and indoor/outdoor fabrics. In the case of the Vintage handbags, we're using rare old materials that Miss Charm School tracks down by rummaging around in out-of-the-way shops for forgotten old remnants making each one really unique. Sometimes there's only enough fabric to make about 5 handbags so they become really special and a truly limited edition.

Since it's not Miss Charm School's nature to do anything cutesy, the name is taken from a sarcastic reference by Felix Unger about Oscar Madison's ditsy date in the TV show The Odd Couple.

The people behind Miss Charm School are:

Susan (Miss Charm School herself) came up with the whole idea of using fine & vintage upholstery fabrics to create unique handbags.
As a Design Consultant for a major home furnishings company she's constantly exposed to many beautiful patterns and prints. She finds and chooses the fabrics, sketches out her original ideas on paper and makes rough cutout prototypes of the shapes. She also hunts around for the hardware and charms and defines the audience for the bag.

Robert handles all the graphic design, production (creating digital templates for the bags) and overall image for the company. Virtually anything that gets done behind the scenes from creating a 30 second video ad to filling orders and running to the post office to ship handbags out, which is thankfully just across the road.

Linda is the master craftsman who actually cuts the final fabric and, along with a helper, does all the actual hand fabricating of the handbags. Linda, who honed her skills in interior design and custom fabric work, has a knack for knowing what will work and is also instrumental in refining each creation.

Feel free to contact Miss Charm School at any time....after she's had her morning coffee.
