Welcome to Jovia Handmade Soap!

Passionate about soapmaking is one phrase I would use to describe myself. Since making that first batch in 1998, I have been inspired to create soap that calls to be touched and begs to be smelled. I love color and fragrance and combining the two into a product that is both functional and esthetically pleasing gives me great pleasure.

Washing and bathing shouldn't be a chore...they should be enjoyable. That is what handmade soaps do. They turn a regular mundane activity into a mini moment of bliss, an opportunity to stop and smell the roses without interrupting the flow of our busy lives.

Jovia Handmade Soaps are carefully crafted in small batches using the cold process method of soap making. All the work is done in my studio in Sicamous, British Columbia, where I live with my 2 children, my husband and my one eyed dog, Brock (he's so cute!). If you're curious about how handmade soap is made or feel the need to give it a try, I share my knowledge on my website - Soap Making Essentials - http://www.soap-making-essentials.com

Each bar of Jovia Handmade Soap contains quality ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil and shea butter and unlike commercial soaps, do not contain detergents, harsh preservatives or nasty things like Sodium Laurel Sulfate.

If you've never tried handmade soap then you're in for a treat. Commercial soap leaves your skin dry and tight, like it's stretched to it's limit. Flaky, alligator skin doesn't have to be the norm. Handmade soap contains naturally occuring glycerin that draws moisture to your skin and the nourishing oils lock that moisture in allowing your skin to be supple and smooth.

I showcase my soap on Flickr and love new contacts - http://www.flickr.com/photos/26316331@N05/
