moon23's Profile

Bio

I'm an artist and bookbinder, that enjoys creating jewelry and coptic style books using found objects and mixed media. I have a Bachelors in Art ('96) and have been experimenting and creating ever since. I love to dabble and try out new things from fusing glass to etching metals. If anything sits still long enough it might find its way onto one of my book creations. My true love is jewelry making and metal work.

All my books are created from the bare bones which means I cut down large sheets of Davey board, tear my own paper from cotton printmakers papers, and cover everything in decorative papers myself. Books are hand sewn with multiple needles at once for a nice consistent spine. Usually the longest part of the process is the cover design. 90% of my books are one of a kind. It keeps me on my toes and evolving.

Metal is my first love, and I plan to include more fine silver jewelry in the future, but as you may have noticed I've found a way to combine my love for metals with books with my etched copper books.
