TattingsFinest's Profile
Bio
I spent the first 12 years of my life in Lower Michigan. My family then moved to the Upper Peninsula where we are known as "Uppers."
I began my crafting days with knitting and embroidery. Also did some bead work, but once I learned tatting - WOW! It has taken over my life. I shuttle tat; there is also needle tatting but I prefer the shuttle, as I don't like knots and will do just about anything to avoid them. I started out making snowflakes and have graduated to making many different things such as, handkerchief edgings, collars, baby booties and bonnets, doilies, Christmas ornaments to hang on the tree, pin and earring sets, decorations on clothing, and my unique floral pictures.
I have been tatting since the early 1960's and have taught the art of tatting through the Adult Community Education Night School programs, also in local craft stores, and through private lessons, both in Michigan and now in Florida where I reside with my husband of 55 years. I love to see the progress that my students are making with their projects. Tatting is a passion of mine - I would rather tat than eat, and many a night I am up until the wee hours of the morning when I get started on a project. (Time has a way of slipping away from me when I am focused on a project.) So look over my many items and enjoy.
