hi! my name is matt specht. i live and breathe in the kenosha/racine area of southeastern wisconsin. i'm a painter, poet/writer, musician, bookmaker, organizer (http://bonkperformanceseries.wordpress.com), and all kinds of other things. i stay busy to try to keep myself out of trouble, but it doesn't always work....

you'll find some examples of a lot of what i do here, but mostly my books and blank journals.

my journals are made of only the best archival materials. they open flat. they're meant to withstand even my busy lifestyle - they are made to last! i take a lot of pride in my work. each one is unique, and a work of art on its own.

i began bookmaking with a collection of my poetry for a solo art show in late 2007. then, i started making my own blank journals, and it grew into making them for friends and others.
