About Mousesnaps: The Snappy Trap

People always say that you get your best ideas when you’re relaxing – which is exactly what I was doing on a beach in Miami when my roommate called to tell me that a mouse had chewed its way through our pantry door and sampled half of its contents.

“We’re going to have to get those old-fashioned snap traps,” she told me. “Because they actually work.”

She was right. Those snap traps do work – they’re just ugly. In fact, the only reason I didn’t set them sooner was because they were such an eyesore… well, that and I didn’t think the mouse was about to eat its way through plywood and take a nap in a can of peanuts.

But things change. And since I had nothing to do for the next five hours except watch the rain, it somehow occurred to me that the traps would be much easier for me to tolerate if they were pink. And had polka dots. And glitter.

Luckily, I had nothing better to do when I got back home, so I decided to make some – and the idea for Mousesnaps was officially born.

It’s like the whole “When life gives you lemons” thing, but with mice. And traps.

And glitter.
