Painting for me is a journey through the past and present. I use my emotions to explore each one of my images evoking patterns of color and texture, about which I feel passionate. I try to have an air of freshness and spontaneity in my work because I feel this gives an element of truth to the subject at hand.
A favorite subject of mine is the human figure. The figure is such a complex and challenging subject. In painting I attempt to capture human emotions by using color and texture. Often I use collage to give the painting a punch. I love Japanese papers and colorful material. Often I get lost in body parts and have to find solutions; such is the way life itself evolves.
I would like the viewer to identify with my paintings as they trigger different memories for each of us. In my body of work, a recurrent theme for me is the ageing process. These feelings are ones of loneliness and isolations, as well as the very joy of life and its rich rewards.
In the year 2000 I graduated from California State University, Stanislaus with a BA in Fine Arts. The schooling took many years and proved to be a life-changing experience. I also finished a concentration in printmaking and loved the process. I enjoy doing computer art, along with water color, acrylics and colored pencils. I am exploring different papers to paint with and am game to try new products.
