Bio

I am Juliane, the designer of Fröken Skicklig Dolls. I have two homes and two sewing machines, one in Berlin/ Germany and one in Höör, a little place in Southern Sweden. I love to sew, to crochet and to knit and the very first doll dress I ever made is from 1981. I was three years old at that time and since then I loved to work with buttons, thread and fabric.

I was born and raised in Berlin/ Germany and have studied puppetry at Ernst Busch School for Performing Arts. Since 2003 I have been working as a freelance puppeteer and actress for different theatres in Germany, Switzerland and Scandinavia. I enjoy my work on stage, to create stories, to create atmospheres, to work with my audience.

But sometimes I need to do something else than rehearsing and performing. Fröken Skicklig Dolls started as a little project beside my actual work, but soon it turned out as something that was more than just a few days work a month. Now I have to reserve enough time for theatre instead and I still have to find a good balance for both jobs.

When I am travelling (and this I do a lot with two homes in two countries), you´ll find me crocheting and knitting on the boat, at a train, an underground or at the airport. And every little mushroom, every tiny doll shoe will tell a story about a windy trip across the Baltic Sea or about a charming little café where I sat with coffee and cake and some yarn...
