Bio

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My works are contemplations, entertaining the idea that objects can be both organic in form and relation as well as mechanical in a functional format: adornment.

These contemplations materialize as wearable jewelry with a sculptural presence. I strive to balance dichotomy: organic/mechanical, inherent/industrial, expected/unpredictable, variety/repetition, simple/complex. I create alliterations in metal that possess a rhythmic quality in form. I find inspiration in the artwork of Joan Miro,Alexander Calder, Pablo Picasso, and Fernand Leger.

I have been designing and creating jewelry since 1996. My studies began with mechanical engineering before realizing that my interest in "how things work" would be better satisfied in a more creatively aesthetic mode--jewelry design and metalsmithing. I enjoy the process of hand forging and fabrication and combine these processes with innovative practices.

Each piece is individually handcrafted in my Colorado studio.
