Blue Hour Designs is a two-person, husband and wife show. Alysia is the artist and silversmith, and Norbert handles most of the business and marketing. Alysia was born and raised in New Mexico, and Norbert comes from Tallinn, Estonia. We reside near Boulder, Colorado and are proud parents of two adorable little monkeys (i.e. sons) :)

Creating blue hour designs is literally a dream come true for us. We have both spent many years and a couple of degrees (each!) moving away from our true passions in life. For Alysia, the passion is being an artist, and for Norbert, the passion is being an entrepreneur. Together we make a complete team both in life and business.

The name “blue hour” comes from the French expression l'heure bleue, which refers to twilight. Twilight has always been Alysia’s favorite and most inspiring time of day, and it is also a vivid part of her very first memory as a child.

Now a little more about Alysia. After all, you are most likely reading this Profile section to learn more about the artist who is responsible for all these designs, we find it highly unlikely that you are interested in how we market and grow our business, which are Norbert’s responsibilities :) Here’s what Alysia has to say about herself:

“Having the opportunity to design, create and express myself artistically fulfills me on an emotional and professional level I am only now experiencing. As a life-long artist, I have designed and created using different art mediums to express myself. However, I have decided to dedicate blue hour designs for jewelry …for the time being, at least.

Everything that I create is the fruit of my craftsmanship and creativity, which also results in designs that are truly unique and one of a kind. I take a lot of pride in my work, pay a lot of attention to detail and strongly believe in using only high quality materials. I try to represent all my work in as much detail as possible by bringing you close-up pictures. Whenever possible, I also provide a frame of reference in my pictures in order not to misrepresent the size of the piece I am selling.

The inspiration for my creativity comes from all around me; it exhibits itself in everything that causes me to have an emotional response. I very much hope my creations convey the great pleasure I experience in producing these designs.”
