Bio

I am an amateur paper marbler and I make many more papers than I can use for my own bookbinding projects so I've decided to offer a few to others here on Etsy. I also do some paste papers as well as a bit of paper making.

There are two different kinds of marbling represented here in my Etsy shop. One is the traditional Japanese method of marbling, called Suminagashi. Suminagashi involves floating ink on water, then lying paper on the surface of the water to transfer the floating inks onto the paper. Since the inks are floating, the colours move very freely and the patterns that are created are very fluid and unique. The other marbling is Ebru marbling, and this is the kind that is more familiarly used in bookbinding and particularly as endpapers in old books. Ebru marbling involves floating paints on a thickened liquid surface, so the colours are more controlled. This allows the creation of more specific patterns.
