I just discovered Etsy (yes, even before the bit in The New Yorker) and now I'm addicted to finding handmade beads. I love the sense of worldwide community of good people making beautiful things for other good people to buy to make more beautiful things.

Long ago, in a galaxy far away, I was June Sprigg, curator of Hancock Shaker Village and curator of exhibitions of Shaker design, which I still admire greatly. Now I teach history in a community college and get a kick out of looking for beads when I travel. Me 'n Abby (one-eyed black pirate cat) live in a small house in the Berkshires and looooove summers off!

An unanticipated pleasure in Etsy - the wonderful ways in which artisans package/wrap their beads - so much variety, so much fun - plus I am nuts about the little "gift" goodies that so often come as a surprise. Thanks!
