Bio

It all started with one goat. I was in the banking business for 16 years and a customer brought in a tiny baby pygmy goat. The next day Abbey was a member of my family. What I didn’t know at the time is goats are herd animals and you can’t have just one, so along came Mabel and Ollie. The coyotes were really howling one night and I realized I had to get protection for them. Lucky the llama was a fine addition. Of course it wasn’t fair to have just one llama so Ivana Trump, a very regal llama, made her appearance. Eight years later I have 7 goats, 2 llamas, 2 alpacas, 4 angora bunnies, chickens and peacocks. Along the way, the animals just had to start earning their feed.

About 7 years ago I started making goat milk soap and lotion for myself. I have very sensitive skin and so does my son. I couldn’t believe the difference it made in our skin and before I knew it I was making it for friends and family. It soon became time to start selling my products. I was trying to think of a name for my business and the man that delivers hay to me called me Annie Goatley. I knew that was it. The business was born. I started out with a few shows and over the course of a year, I was then able to say goodbye to my banking career.

In the mean time llama and alpaca fleeces were starting to pile up. I started spinning my own yarn and haven’t stopped yet. When you own your own farm nothing goes to waste. I started recycling my old wool sweaters into fleece-lined mittens and working with the fiber arts. Now I sell my soaps and lotions, hand spun yarn, handcrafted mittens, and other specialty items at more than 30 shows a year and have an active web site. It is truly rewarding to know that something I make gives enjoyment to so many people. I have also really enjoyed meeting so many great people over the course of the last 7 years.
