Bio

Death and Texas may sound like a dire name, but I’ve always found inspiration in the images and aura surrounding this great state. You name it: rodeo costumes, tooled leather, old cowboy boots, equestrian gear, horse tack…I even like the way the landscape photographs, like in old movies where the sunset casts a pink glow over everything and still it all looks so tough. Of course, I’m romanticizing it a bit here, but my love is real.

A little about me: I was born in Dallas, TX, and as far back as I remember and most likely before that, I’ve been making things – drawing, painting, taking things apart in my head and building something new with my hands. I studied sculpture at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI and then went on to work as a graphic designer and sewer for an Australian custom messenger bag shop in NYC for 2 years. That’s where I started designing bags in my head.

A few months ago, I dusted off my sewing machine and started designing and sewing bags for real this time. I couldn’t stop and I started to think about all the things I wished I could find that just weren’t out there. Or things that are typically only made to fit men, but needed a little tweaking to fit a lady, like me! And that’s how the line has come to be about, what I see as, versatile interpretations of the classics.
