Bio

i'm a girl, 27, fugitive from the law of averages. my given name is Rae, but i frequently keep aliases. i like a certain degree of mystery and intrigue in my life.

i am, first and foremost, a writer. i'm a writer by trade and writing has been my great passion in life for as long as i can remember [if memory serves, i attempted my first novel in third grade]. i began writing zines in the summer of 2002. i like the way zines offer creative expression of my writing, juxtaposed with various sorts of graphics, including photographs of mine. i like the idea of being my own historian, my own interviewer, my own teller of tales.

sometimes i break out from writing and make more tactile bits of art - paintings, mixed media bits with found objects, and the like. i enjoy photography, but i'm not nearly as skilled as i could be. i am obsessed with mixtapes, but i am probably the only person on the planet who considers them "art."

i used to design fabulous dresses with pencil and paper when i was a little girl. my high school career aptitude test listed "fashion designer" as a career suggestion. who knows, it may happen yet.

i run a zine distro by the name of girl gang, or at least i will once i've got it up and running again. there's not much to see in the meantime, but it's at http://girlgang.org.
