Bio

Hearts of Glass is Andrea Steinwand and Heather Stewart, a married couple who share a passion for melting glass and twisting silver!

We have been lampworking since 2003 and have developed a name for ourselves both locally and in the online glass community, especially for Heather's unusually deep and detailed encased floral beads. Heather has been teaching introductory lampworking at Prairie Stained Glass for two years.

We live in beautiful West Central Winnipeg and have built our studio in our circa 1909 home. We use a Piranha bench burner, oxygen concentrators, natural gas, and plenty of ventilation for a powerful, compact, and safe setup.

We also have a digitally controlled firebrick kiln for annealing all our pieces in order to remove any residual stress from the glass. Annealing is very important to the durability of art glass.
