Kitschy Kitschy Cook! is a 32p quarter-size vegan recipe zine circa 1996. This zine has some tastey recipes (including one of my own which was later published in Sarah Kramer's How It All Vegan) for the veg/vegan crowd. And if you're an omnivore, it's a great resource to have for when you need to prepare food for vegan friends and family -- many of the recipes are large enough (or double well) for potlucks and holiday dinners.

This notebook is made from a vintage, recycled 3-D postcard with an image of a nude chef in a blue clown wig. Jamie Oliver's soulmate? Who knows?

In the more modest pose, our chef is wearing a little white hat and a floral, embroidered apron with a red strap while she holds aloft an intact egg and a frying pan. In the nude pose, she is turned to the side and wearing nothing but her white hat. The egg has magically transformed to an adorable baby chick in the frying pan.

The cover is a vintage postcard -- my guess is from the 1970s. It has a few, non-distinguishing printed markings and some pencil notations on the reverse. Three dimensional postcards have a textured plastic top-coat which has a tendency to curl with age. The cover on this notebook does curl slightly at the edges.

The text block is approximately 50 sheets of bright white copier paper. The back cover is archival matboard, trashpicked from end of semester art-school garbage. (Do photo students ever save the center cut pieces after they mat their final projects?)

This is an adaptation of the toy camera Holga design I created for one of my favorite handbound books. The book got a hand altered print treatment. The mirrors have a more affordable digital reproduction output on a light, kraft brown paper with a (minimum 30% post consumer waste) recycled content.

The holga cameras are printed in blue and hot pink, with yellow streams of vision saying "HELL YEAH."

Etching creator is unknown. I found a stack of abstract hand-pulled prints in a box lot of goods I bought at auction years ago. So much labor had gone into them that I couldn't bear to chuck them out, but they weren't really my aesthetic to hang on the wall. I brought them out recently and made these one of a kind coasters.

If you are a fan of beautiful textures and vivid color, these are the pieces for you. I'll be listing several other sets, but each print was made with different colors, so even the images that use the same plates are one of a kind.
