Mia yearns for the hills of Tuscany. She is sure her coloring would fit right in. And she loves pasta, olive oil and sometimes even a little vino.

Mia is a hand-crocheted, stuffed octopus, made with 100% acrylic Strata yarn in shades of orange, red, yellow, blue, and aqua. She is stuffed with polyester fiberfill, and stands about 2 ½ inches tall, not including her trademark Whosits spiky hair. When sitting, she is about 6 inches wide from tentacle to tentacle. Mia’s eyes and mouth are embroidered with yarn.

Autumn the Snail - Crochet Amigurumi

Autumn is my favorite time of year. I love all the colors of the leaves on the trees, the pumpkins and mums that bring splashes of color to yards and porches. That’s what I was thinking of when I selected the colors for this little snail, so that’s what I named her!

Autumn was crocheted with 100% acrylic yarn and stuffed with polyester fiberfill. Her shell is made with a variegated yarn in shades of dark moss green, orange, burnt orange, brown and beige. Her body is a darker mossy green color. Her eyes and sweet smile were embroidered with black yarn. Autumn is 7 ¾ inches tall to the top of her antenna, 7 ¾ inches long to the tip of her tail, and 2 ¼ inches wide.

This pattern is easy for the novice crocheter, but the results can be stunning. Simplicity and yarn selection are the keys. It is light weight and airy, so that it can be used at any time of year, in any climate. Create the perfect baby shower or baptismal gift. This baby blanket will become a family heirloom.

The afghan measures 32 by 40 inches (81 by 101 cm), not including the fringe. The simple diamond pattern shows off the yarn. I selected a beautiful but practical twinkle yarn, which is a white, sport weight acrylic yarn that has blue, yellow, pink, green and lavender nylon threads running through it, creating a shimmering effect.

Materials needed:
- about 18 oz (42.5 grams) 3 ply, sport weight yarn
- size G (4.25 mm) crochet hook (or hook needed to obtain gauge)

Wuffles is small guy - about 5 inches tall. Tootles is about 9 in tall (21 cm) turtle (a "big sister" size to our regular turtles) that you can easily create if you are familiar with crocheting in the round and doing the following stitches: single crochet, chain stitch, slip stitch and half-double crochet. Note that size is dependent on yarn & hook chosen.

I have made the instructions clear and concise, following crochet pattern standards we're all used to seeing in our craft magazines, and I've provided several photos to help illustrate the techniques used.
