A light colored surplice style neckline top with a baby doll raised waist, loosely fitted with elastic, shown here on my dressmaker mannequin which I have padded to echo my newest Venus of Willendorf figure measurements. I am not as busty as the top, so it does look a bit droopy!

I designed this top using coordinated fabrics, both 100% cotton which is lightweight and cool for Summer.

The neckline is fairly low (12.5" from shoulder seam to center front) and the top has kimono style sleeves for comfort and to help catch the breezes! It can be worn with or without a tank top...depends on how daring you want to be.

Cat Stars Wall Hanging

Vivid neon stylized cats, swirl around the 6 pointed stars that make up this ooak wall hanging.

Made using the "Stack and Whack" technique, each section of each star is the same image repeated, much like in a kaleidoscope. And each star is taken from a different area of the focal fabric. A pewter Cat face button is found in the center of each star. The back is a solid black.

The fabrics are 100% cotton, as well as the batting, and the hanging is machine quilted in the ditch. There is a rod pocket at the top for hanging, or it could just as well be used as a child's lap or floor blanket. There is a label sewn to the back with the quilt name and my signature, and date.

Spinning in the Wind Pinwheel Quilt

The classic pinwheel quilt patch with a modern twist!
A tone on tone ivory background focuses the attention on the large 10" rainbow hued pinwheel blocks which border a center rectangle made up of smaller 4.25", yet just as bright, pinwheel blocks. A lime green band surrounds the center panel and is echoed in the quilt binding.

This large OOAK 64"W X 84"L (162.6 X 213.4cm) quilt was professionally long-arm machine quilted...freehand...by Wild Irish Rows located in Oregon (formerly from CT). The border quilting is done in beige, and the center panel is done with a rainbow variegated thread. The backing fabrics are vibrant tone on tone patterned lime and turquoise.

This quilt will cover a double bed and serve as a topper on a Queen size.

All fabrics, including batting, are 100% cotton. There is a label sewn to the back which states the quilt name, and has my signature and date completed.

This is one of many quilts I have completed and couldn't bear to part with, but have now decided to share with others. Hope you enjoy looking at and reading about the others as well.

Plus Size Cotton Top for Summer

I designed this top using 2 fabrics, both 100% cotton, and coordinated for a unique look for Summer. The floral top section is a fabric from Hoffman International, and the purples of the flowers are mirrored in the splatter paint look of the ombre toned red purple lower section (or skirt, if you will).

The neckline is banded with a bias cut band matching the skirt, and the kimono style sleeves also have a matching band.

The measurements for this top are as follows: (should fit up to a size 20w...2x)

Dads' Bow Ties Wall Quilt

Remember those bow ties your Dad and Granddad used to wear? Here's the perfect reminder of days gone by...a 100% cotton, ooak wall quilt made of reproduction small prints of the old tyme silk ties of the gentlemen of yesteryear.

The tie block also includes solids, mottles, and small prints in coordinating colors. Each tie is highlighted with metallic thread herringbone machine embroidery.

It is machine quilted in metallic thread in a diagonal diamond pattern. The hanging measures 36.5" square (92.7cm sq.), is backed with unbleached muslin, and has a rod pocket for hanging. It is also signed and dated as seen in one of the photos at right. You may note that the date of completion was a few years ago...this and more to be listed, have been packed away, and I am just now able to begin parting with them without going through the "empty nest" syndrome.

The deep, rich colors would look wonderful in a man's home office or den, or a home library...if there are still such things in existence today.

Nearly Random Acts of Color Log Cabin Quilt

I just love Log Cabin quilts, and had a lot of fun creating this one. It is a nearly random color and fabric choice due to the fact that all the rotary cut strips were put into paper bags (light bag, dark bag) and drawn out without looking. I think it's safe to say it is also a Charm Quilt, as I don't think I used the same fabric twice.

In most cases I went with the chosen strip, and only 3 or 4 times did I actually look to choose a color better suited to the block I was making. Thus the "nearly" random colors.

This OOAK quilt measures 56" x 68", a perfect size to use as a topper on a full sized bed, or as a regular quilt on a dorm bed or a twin. The center square, or hearthstone, is a 1" square, and all the strips are 1"wide.

The blocks are arranged in an off-center Barn Raising pattern, since I am not that fond of symmetrical placements.

All fabrics are 100% cotton, the batting is cotton "Warm and Natural", and it was machine quilted by Judi Irish of "Wild Irish Rows", a professional quilter now located in Oregon.

The back has a variety of fabrics used as well, due to the fact that I prefer interesting backs, rather than plain...boring!! Sure, it's more work, but it's a lot more fun to look at!

Plus Size Skirt w/Drawstring Waist

The first in a new line of casual separates for the Plus Size ladies.

This 100% cotton skirt is made in a dark floral print, reminiscent of William Morris. The background is black, and muted blues, greys and greens are arranged over its surface.

The self-fabric drawstring waist expands to 48", the skirt skims smoothly over the hips (up to 52") and it measures 33 1/4" long from top to hem...ankle length on me, and I'm 5'2"

The skirt flares at the bottom with a flirty 91" at the hemline. All seam edges are overlocked (serged).

Very flattering with an overblouse since there's not too much fullness at the waist and hips.

Blue Kaleidoscope 4 Wallhanging

This small, complex, OOAK kaleidoscope hanging measures 22.5" by 19", and is one of a series of my original kaleidoscope designs done in various color ways. I have sold 2, and besides this one, I have 4 more unfinished, except for quilting.

The center pattern is machine pieced with great attention paid to accurately matching the print lines of the 100% cotton fabrics. Each pie-shaped wedge is exactly alike, with a mirror image comprizing half of the block. So the same pattern area must be cut multiple times from the same piece of fabric, and then reversed. Obviously with all the small pieces, a lot of fabric is not used, but what is left behind resembles a large slice of Swiss cheese.

In the 15.5" X 17.5" center medallion there are 180 cut pieces of fabric. (One of my others had 266 pieces. :>) The entire quilt is hand quilted, and I have used a circle with echo quilting in each of the corners. The center is hand quilted in the ditch formed by the seam lines.

Warm and Natural cotton batting was used, and there is a rod pocket attached at the top of the back.

The quilt is signed, named and dated on a tag on the lower right corner of the back.

Wisteria Tiers Funky Cha Cha Bracelet

"Wisteria Tiers" is very descriptive of this OOAK funky lavendar and lime green multi-layered bracelet. I have used over 21 different types of beads, including everything from plastic "jewels", irridescent lavendar sequin pallettes and acrylic beads, to silver-lined glass and Czech faceted crystals. To say that it is eclectic, is putting it mildly.

The tiers are 3 layers of beaded headpins of varying lengths, attached to a silver plated heavy link bracelet with a silver plated toggle closure. The closed bracelet will fit a 7" wrist, or smaller. It is a good weight, but not extremely heavy.

Bone-Coral Necklace with Butterfly

A handsome combination of chunky sponge coral, gold coral tubes and delicate sticks, as well as gold shell coins and Chinese picture jaspers, highlight the large carved bone butterfly pendant which is the centerpiece of this "tribal look" necklace.

The earthy tones of this ooak necklace will go with this season's desert tones, as well as peach, black and bark colors. Tiny brass beads serve as spacers here and there, and the clasp is a very "tenacious" magnet...which kept attaching itself to my jewelry pliers!..:> It is strung on a multi-strand metal jewelry cord.

The necklace measures 21" without the pendant, which adds 3.75" at the center front, were it falls directly between the breasts. The carved bone oval butterfly measures 2.5"L x 2.75"W. It has a good weight, but does not feel heavy when worn.

Plus Size Long Gypsy Tierred Skirt Sun Dress

Earth tone and Tribal cotton prints, and African animal prints (both skin and image) combine to create this OOAK multi-tiered skirt, baby-doll bodice, sun dress, which will fit up to a size 20W, or larger if you have a smaller bust (see measurements below).

Super full skirt measures over 13 yards around the bottom, that's over 468"! The first tier is just over 3 yards in circumference, and each tier increases by just over a yard. Each tier is pieced, and there are almost 90 different fabrics included...only a couple are used more than once.

All seams, including vertical piecing seams are overlocked, and the bodice is lined so that no seams are visible. The straps are flat 1/4" wide black with gold pattern, same as the underbust band. There is a 12" zipper at center back, with a hook and eye at the top.

As far as how long it took to create this, I stopped counting my hours after 30 had come and gone! The dress is quite heavy (3 1/2 lbs) due to fabric weight, so shipping will be for a Flat Rate box.

I am 5'1" and the dress reaches the floor on my height. The usual hem is about an inch, but can be as much as 3" if you want it shorter. The colors of a desert sunset are mirrored in the striped weave of this decorator fabric handbag, which rides on your shoulder, but tucks under your arm. You'll find orange, vermilion, dusty gold, rust, sagey olive green, and a deep royal purple in the stripes.

The OOAK bag is large enough to hold enough items for an overnight stay, and has a 3 sectioned pocket in the interior...one section for keys, one for a cell phone, and the larger center one for keeping lipgloss, and other necessities handy. It closes with a self fabric tab decorated with a layered wood belt buckle of 1980's vintage, which is heavy enough to keep the top closed.

The bag is completely lined in a wonderful Egyptian print cotton with gold highlights, which is interfaced with a dense poly batting.

Log Cabin Christmas Star Quilt

The log cabin block is an old favorite of mine, and the light/dark halves lend themselves very well to this particular arrangement. The 100% cotton fabrics are almost all different, making this an "almost" charm quilt as well.

The quilt measures 60" X 62"(152.4 x 157.5cm), is backed with a small print in cream, red and green, and the batting is all cotton Warm and Natural. It was long-arm machine quilted, free hand, by Wild Irish Rows of Oregon (formerly of CT) There are swirls and stars and beautiful quilting designs overlaying the pieced surface.

Icicle Elf Stocking

Now you have to envision an elegant Elf, who believes that being extravagant in your wearing apparel, is the norm, and therefore his Christmas stocking must reflect his entire wardrobe.

Thus came into being, the ooak, ultra fancy, wine colored moire' stocking with acrylic iridescent icicles all around the top of the ivory and hunter green double cuff, as well as a spike of them on the toe. The stocking has an inner layer of batting to give it structure.

The ivory top cuff and lining are bengaline tafetta, and the rest of the stocking is decorator moire'.

Top opening is 11"(27.9cm) around, from top to heel is 12"(30.5cm), and from heel to beginning of toe curl is 10"(25.4cm).

A bit of a twist on the usual felt Christmas stocking. This one uses the technique of Victorian crazy quilting to jazz up the deep rustic hues of the heather felts in red, olive, blue and gold.

The back and front are double layered, so this ooak stocking won't go limp after just one season. It will probably be around for a long time....if the dog doesn't get it!

The stocking opening is about 14"(35.6cm) around, and the length from top to heel is 15"(38.1cm), and from heel to toe is 12"(30.5cm). A good size for medium sized toys...can't you picture a teddy bear stuck in the top??

Here's my take on the baby doll style, with a narrow plaid bodice and tweedy skirt ooak jumper in 100% wool which is completely lined in a silky polyester. There is a 7" zipper at the center back, for ease in dressing.

I designed this by draping it on my designer's mannequin, so it should fit a size 10 to 12. The measurements are as follows:

This bag is a new design which I call "Croissant" because the shape I came up with, resembles one of those yummy, puffy semi-circle pastries.

The exterior is a light blue denim and the interior is a lovely paisley print with lapis blue, olive green, cocoa brown, and saffron gold.

The strap, which can be worn across the body as well as on the shoulder, is made from Ultra Suede, which I hand embroidered with heavy embroidery floss in a buttonhole stitch, done strictly by eye, no measuring! There are a few square blue glass beads sewn onto the strap as a little extra glitz.

I even made the inchie buttons which adorn the strap, front and back, using paisley patterned paper, and some glitter in various areas. These are covered with 3 heavy coats of acrylic sealant.

There are 2 interior pockets the same shape and size as the exterior one, which is 6.75" wide, and 4" deep. The bag closes with a magnetic snap.

The entire bag, including pockets, is interfaced with a dense poly batting, and due to the pleating on both the front and back the bag will sit on it's bottom without falling over too easily.

For some reason the name Copacabana comes to mind when I look at this piece, and it's probably because of the vibrant blue and green colors accented with the bright fuchsia shell circles.

Heirloom Original Paper Pieced/Patchwork Christmas Stocking

Soft rose, demure sage green and dainty ecru patterned cotton fabrics, with subtle glimmers of silver, make up the front panel design of this ooak, machine paper-pieced Christmas stocking.

For those unfamiliar with paper piecing, the design is drawn out on a tissue-like paper, and fabric pieces are sewn to the back side to create the pattern. When reversed, the completed pattern is revealed. It sounds confusing, and can be a tricky endeavor, but the results are more detailed and intricate than a regular method of quilt patch sewing.

The back of the stocking is an ecru velvet, and the stocking is completely lined in ecru moirre'. The front panel is quilted to a layer of cotton batting, using the "in the ditch" technique.

The first in a new line of "earthy", eclectic necklaces, Tribal #1 is a very long, 58" strand, of hemp twine and a taupey sand colored ribbon, on which is strung wood and glass beads. Also included are unique enamelled bells, gold colored chain, mesh ribbon encasing metallic embroidery floss, and a good sized oxidized brass bell at center front.

This OOAK necklace can be worn as a single long strand, or can be looped over the head twice for a more standard length look. The ribbon is in the center front portion, and is knotted loosely between each bead. The upper portion consists of 3 strands of hemp strung through large-holed beads, and in some places, each strand has a small bead which are clumped together for a more 3-D effect. The 3 strands are knotted here and there as part of the composition.

It has a very Bohemian look about it, and would go with anything from jeans, to a gauze or linen dress.

A very vociferous kitten wearing a sparkly witch's hat is the focal for this fun Halloween card!
