This zine mix is a combo of three zines--Mostly Hand Written #2, Eve Art Interactions, and DO NOT BEND. these three zines are full of artsy goodness, as well as showcasing a couple of different zine binding methods. MHW#2 even gives a tutorial on how to make zines!

MHW#2 is a per-zine, written and drawn by hand. It is 28pp on text weight white paper + cardstock covers--1/2 size.

This issue talks about zines, why we make zines, and has a little illustrated tutorial on how to make zines, how to do the layout in a zine, how to find other zines as well as what a distro is, how to distribute your zine (do it yourself or have someone else do it), and how to wholesale. this zine also includes a little writing about what it's like to be 26 going on 27, how i feel about where i am in my life, as well as some thoughts on self-recording in venues such as this zine. i also talk a little bit about mail art--just a blurb! (there's more to come about that in MHW#3) xox.

Eve Art Interactions is a 1/4 size zine dealing with autumn artworks, figures interactions, and various poems by several different writers. The zine is a compilation of thoughts and artworks by various people, all work is short poetry or miniature illustration--combining the visual and the verbal in one arty little mix!

Media used to create the originals was varied--some chose hand carved stamps, some drew, some painted. This was photocopied and hand bound (sewn) for your reading and looking pleasure.

DO NOT BEND is a 24 page zine which was created in 24 hours for the 24 hour zine challenge 2006. this zine is a 1/4 size, hand bound zine. it contains several doodle drawings, comments, and observations, including a bit on the futility of life as a garden gnome.

also included are several photography assignments designed to keep you inspired when you're just not sure what to do to create art! have a camera? cool. or you can buy a disposable to complete these photo prompts!

Eve Art Interactions is a 1/4 size zine dealing with autumn artworks, figures interactions, and various poems by several different writers. The zine is a compilation of thoughts and artworks by various people, all work is short poetry or miniature illustration--combining the visual and the verbal in one arty little mix!

These new issues of EA:I are a photocopied on ivory carstock with a sewn binding for an extra touch of artiness! mmm, mmm fiber!

transgression

Transgression is a zine compiled of sixteen fine art photographs. Is is photocopied on red cardstock (cover) and linen (guts). The binding is stapled, with a decorative sewn edge.

The photos were taken as part of an exhibition of nudes called Transgression. The zine serves as a show catalogue. These were made with a Holga using studio lighting.

This zine contains nudity. Each photograph is accompanied by a definition, which is also the title. The zine includes an artist statement as well. 1/4 size.

Dad Zine

Dad Zine is a compilation of art and writings by various artists, daughters, and sons. At the end of 2005/beginning of 2006 I sent out an open call to mail artists to write to me with postcards about their fathers, either things they learned from their fathers, what their fathers meant to them, or what they wished their fathers had been.

Artists from all over the world contributed, and I extended the deadline. Actually, the call is still open, should anyone wish to submit a memory or story.

An excerpt: "Father, Dad, Daddy, Pop, Old Man, Papa... Our fathers are many different things to us. Dads are a part of our lives, whether we have a present father or not, whether he's a good papa or we wish he would be better. Dad is a figure. Dad is an idea. He is a teacher... / ... What our fathers say, what they do, and who they are--it remains with us. Fathers make their mark upon our lives."

Dad Zine is a 1/4 size 20pp zine. It is made with black on white photocopies, on a bright white text weight paper. Each zine is individually hand bound with a japanese stab binding.

fat girl is a 1/4 size zine dealing with body positive imagery and writing, specifically where fat is concerned. FG is a 1/4 size, 20pp zine. this zine is photocopied in black and white on text weight paper. it is hand sewn with a japanese stab binding, and a heavy weight thread.

fg#14 contains writing about relationships with food, food love, culture, dispelling the 'if', a short essay by p. amos re: personal experience with fat, depression, and medication, and illustrations by nicci & ang.

excerpt: "Body love can be difficult to come by on those days when nothing is going right, when your car breaks down and you find out your aunt might have cancer. Body love can be elusive and easily influenced by setting and your company. Spiral Bound is a compilation of work from various artists, both visual and verbal, about why they journal, and why recording oneself is necessary to their respective identity.

Some of the entries are written in the form of explorations of the topic of journalling, and some are excerpts from personal journals. Some are both. There are both word and image, sometimes combined, from a variety of styles.

This is a 55 page zine printed on cardstock and comb bound. This binding is very similar to a coil, except it is interlocking teeth like a comb bind with a spine along the back of the round comb. It is a round, thin plastic binding.
