When my daughter was little, (she's now almost 7) she would call us Wack-A-Doos.... I made a Wack-A-Doo and he was a big hit and has been my mascot when I do craft shows...

So, I decided to share the love and make little Wack-A-Doo face pins. This guy is one inch and has a 3/4" pin back.

Here is my entry for the Etsy Bead Weaver's Challenge which this month is Red. As you can see, I used A LOT of red! I really love this color of seed bead and used the same color for both the size 11 and size 8 beads. To off set the redness, I used matte pink Toho size 11s for this piece.
It started with the Coil Chain that Ava Farrington published in the 2007 Bead a Day Calendar. She used it as a bracelet, and I decided to use it as a base for my choker. Then, I added drop picot fringe and branch fringe in the middle of the necklace so it adds some movement and a bit of pizzaz.

The clasp is vermeil.

I hope you like this piece... It decided to have a mind of its own, so I am hoping that the beads were right...

I took a class with the infamous Christi Friesen and made this great looking Lion head....

The skulls are back in town!
Once again, I've made skull beads just in time for Halloween. I do have the sets available if you want to make your own creation, but here it's all done for you!

The skulls are made via a millefori cane that I designed and created, then sliced. I then, reshaped each bead to get the effect I wanted. I then used a Sterling Silver head pin and put a black swarovski crystal and an orange glass bead with the skull bead in between.

At a little over an inch high, this dragon has had a bit of bad luck on the open seas. After the unfortunate sailing incident, he lost one of his legs. He didn't give up, but used part of his mast to craft a new leg.

When he lost his eye, he got himself a fancy eye patch and a seeing eye bird.

Jeannette Shannigan asked her group to make some brick stitch earrings using her graph... I tried in vain to make several styles (see last pic) and came up short... Then, I decided on this pattern... I kind of like how they came out...

Of course, I needed to add a bit of shimmer, so I added a top drilled swarovski crystal (8mm) to each earring.

The pattern is by me (although not a very hard one....) and each bead is stitched one at a time using size 11 seed beads.

I love to bead weave and I love Art Deco, so I thought the Etsy Beadweaver's August challenge "Art Deco" would be a snap... NOT!!!
First, I had to procrastinate.... (I mean, really, just about an hour until the cutoff....)
Then, I had to look at all the pretty Art Deco you can find via Google and Flickr... (I am so easily distracted by pretty things!)
Finally, I find a design I like. I even know I want to do it in black and white. I always think of black and white and my Grandparent's upstairs bathroom when I think of Deco... Such a peaceful place that was. (It had black and white alternating tile, just in case you wondered....)
So, in between the 'Mom!'s and the 'I'm bored's, I started to stitch. As with all my projects, I rip out and start over at least three times. By bedtime last night, my shoulder ached. However, I was seeing the end of the pendant! (I even graphed it out!!!)
I get it done this afternoon and show it to my hubby. He mumbles, 'nice'. I ask him, what type of art do you think it is? He says, Indian... It's an arrowhead.
Cripes!

Anyway, this is my entry into the Etsy Beadweaver's August Challenge "Art Deco".
